The rules of Covers — who may use it, what a venue has to be, and the things we will not do whatever anyone offers us.

What this is
Covers is a place for UK hospitality businesses to hire people directly. We are not a recruitment agency, we are not an employment business, and we do not introduce candidates for a fee. We take no commission on a hire, ever — not 15%, not 1%, not at any headcount.
Candidates
Free, permanently, for everything to do with finding work. You must be old enough to work lawfully in the UK and the details you give must be your own and true. You decide who can find you; see Privacy.
We do not check whether a job will suit you, whether a venue is a good employer, or whether what they have written is accurate. We publish who replies and how quickly, because that is checkable; the rest is your judgement.
Employers
You may post only for a company you are part of or are hiring for with that company’s authority, and the job must be posted under the company the person would actually work for. Every company is checked against Companies House and approved by a person before anything goes live.
Recruitment agencies and employment businesses may not use Covers to register, post or search for candidates. A company’s own HR, talent and hiring managers are always welcome. An outsourced HR adviser acting for a named client is welcome, posting under that client. A contract caterer hiring its own staff is a direct employer. A chef-staffing agency is not, and we will close the account.
Every published job must state what it pays. This is a condition of posting and not a field you can leave blank. Jobs must not ask for a date of birth or health information, or be worded to exclude people on the basis of a protected characteristic — we scan for this and send it to a human, and a job can be taken down for it.
Right-to-work checks are yours to perform. A candidate’s self-declared status on Covers is for matching and is not evidence of anything.
Contact details you are shown are for contacting that person about work at your venue. Selling them on, adding them to a marketing list, or passing them to an agency will end your account.
Credits
A verified venue gets a number of credits, and one credit shows you the contact details of one candidate who has said they are open to being approached. A credit buys that look, not a subscription to the person: if they later choose to be less visible, the access ends and the credit is not returned. We say so here so nobody is surprised by it.
Taking things down
We can remove a job, suspend an account or refuse a company, and we will do it for agency activity, for a listing that misrepresents the work or the pay, or for treating applicants badly. We will tell you why.
Jobs expire on their own after thirty days. A job whose applicants have gone unanswered for ten days is taken off the board until the venue says they are still hiring — not as a punishment, but because letting more people apply into silence is the one thing this product is for preventing.
What we do not promise
That you will fill the role, that you will get the job, that a listing is accurate, or that the service will be available without interruption. We will not be liable for business losses, and nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.
Changes, and the law that applies
If we change these terms materially we will say so on this page and date it. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales.
